Name

 

When I was younger, I absolutely hated my name. There wasn't another soul with a name similar to mine. I used to beg my Ma and Pa to change it, but they refused, saying that one day, I'd love my name. Too bad they weren't alive to see the day I did.

 

Race

 

I'm what you'd call a Fairy/Fairie, depending on how you like to spell it. I'm also known as a Physical Faerie. However, I do love to play around with my outward appearance and have hidden my wings, though I can still fly if need be.

[Physical Faeries aren't necessarily solid matter, but they are material/energy beings with relatively defined/stable form and often at least somewhat human-like mind. Most users that aren't originally of faery stock have this variation. Note that faeries of this group aren't necessarily any weaker than those of the other groups, they are simply more "solid" in mind and body.]

 

Age

 

Like other Fae, I can choose to age or not. In human years, I am 87, but I have chosen to stop my age at 21. I've lived quite a long time, but I can't see myself dying anytime soon.

This is something that some measure of thought should be put into. At least a general overview of what their lives have been like in the past are the kinds of notes that define a character's personality and help define their goals and desires in life as well. It's a footprint and foundation to work off of that helps you connect to your own character, but also provides depth for another character that meets yours to experience.

 

A well thought out backstory is a good role-play enabler for starting out. Many people might TP down to the role-play zone not knowing where to really start. Well, if you know your characters past, you might know what they would first do… stick to the shadows? visit a tavern? check in at the castle? head straight for a library? perhaps seek out other of their own kind?

 

When it comes to conversation, a good character background helps keep them in character conversation flowing with others. You may have yet to establish a current history, but you might be able to spend hours of role-playing talking to other characters about your past and thus hearing about theirs. These notes might also help define how your character is in their relationships with other characters walking around played by other typists.

 

Be sure to read up on the sim lore and magic, these things might help you determine how your character lived and where they came from. Perhaps you had no parents, and grew into a young adult on the streets? Maybe you are a dragon or a demon that's a hundred of years old and have been roaming for centuries? Perhaps humans destroyed your home and family…It's really up to your imagination.

 

Personality Quirks

You could say that I have ADOSS, or Attention Deficit, OH, Shiny! Syndrom. I collect shiny objects that I find on my adventures. Of course, I don't steal from others, so I make sure to ask around if anyone has lost anything recently that's shiny. If no one has, then the object is mine for the keeps. Currently, I enjoy collecting stones, rocks, crystals, and other beautiful objects. I love the way they glitter in the sunlight!
